New Online Solution Automates Critical Tournament Management Tasks

Standings Updated Instantly Using Your Tournament Rules

Tournament Scheduling is quickly becoming the new standard in tournament management for amateur hockey. Features like automatic schedule generation, online game updates, and the ability to format tournaments to any set of rules has leagues lining up for the Tournament Schedule advantage.

Tournament Scheduling made its debut at four holiday tournaments. Since then, another five tournaments have selected BladeNET's Tournament Scheduling to help make their tournaments a success.

Tournament Administrators are discovering that Tournament Scheduling frees organizers from time consuming and repetitive duties. Complex schedules are created at the touch of a button. Game results are entered online, from any location, and standings are updated immediately according to your tournament rules. Now, players, coaches, and families can have access to fast, accurate results at any location.

This week, we contininue to look at league experiences with Tournament Scheduling over the holiday season.

GTHL - Bell Challenge Cup

Dec 26 - 30 2002/32 Teams

For the past twenty five yers, the Bell Challenge Cup has brought together the finest Peewee players from across Canada and the United States. Tournament graduates have included Eric Lindros, Adam Graves, and Brendan Shanahan. Together with Bell, the GTHL has committed to creating one the best tournaments in the world. As part of that commitment, the GTHL selected BladeNET's Tournament Scheduling for its tournament management.

For the Bell Challenge Cup, the GTHL used the Ontario Hockey Federation's (OHF) rules to determine standings and winners. As with all BladeNET services, Tournament Scheduling includes Support and Training. BladeNET staff worked closely with the GTHL to help configure Tournament Scheduling to automatically determine standings according to the OHF rules. Also included was training for GTHL volunteers who would enter game results immediatly online.

When it came time for the training to be put into action, the GTHL volunteers performed flawlessly. "It's very friendly" said a smiling Patty Ciddio, GTHL volunteer, when asked about entering scores online.

Toronto Marlboros - International Holiday Classic Tournament

Dec 26 - 30/100 Teams

The Toronto Marlboros' International Holiday Classic Tournament brings over 100 teams together from across Canada and the United States. More than 200 scouts from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) and colleges attend the tournament that takes place from Dec 26 -30 at five venues.

Organizing an international tournament of this size with games played at five venues is a challenge for any league. To meet this challenge, Mike Chraba, Toronto Marlboros General Manager selected Tournament Scheduling from BladeNET.
For the Marlboros, Tournament Scheduling streamlined the process of schedule generation and transparently integrated the OHF tournament rules.

In addition, Tournament Scheduling solved the problem faced by all tournaments taking place at multiple venues: How do we receive and update scores and standings? Problem solved with Tournament Scheduling. Scoring updates can entered online at any location with an internet connection. And because Tournament Scheduling uses a single database, duplication and errors are avoided. Once scores are entered, standings are automatically updated.
