BladeNET
Rolls Out Tournament Scheduling
New Solution
Debuts at Four Holiday Tournaments
BladeNET
has successfully rolled out it's latest online amateur hockey solution,
Tournament Scheduling, for the 2002/2003 tournament season.
Making its debut at four holiday tournaments, Tournament Scheduling easily
met the unique challenges presented by each tournament.
* Greater Toronto Hockey League - Bell Challenge Cup 32 Teams
* Mississauga Girls Hockey League - 22nd Annual Tournament 155 Teams
*Toronto Marlboros - International Holiday Classic Tournament 100 Teams
* Georgina - Larry Grasby Memorial Minor "A" International Silver
Stick Tournament 60 Teams
Tournament
Scheduling is an online tournament management system that allows leagues
to add any number of teams to a tournament, define any number of tournament
rules, and update scores using the Internet. Once configured, Tournament
Scheduling automatically creates a tournament schedule and updates standings
and scores as they are entered. The updated standings and scores are immediatly
available on the Internet.
For tournament administrators, Tournament Scheduling eliminates the tedious
chore of manually creating schedules for large numbers of teams. With
the touch of a button, complex schedules are instantly created and allocated
to selected venues.
Tournament Scheduling also frees administrators from the time consuming
and error filled task of repeatedly updating standings according to a
series of tournament rules. Since your tournament rules were defined when
you configured Tournament Scheduling, standings are automatically updated
according your rules as soon as the results are entered.
Results can be entered anywhere at anytime, by any number adminstators
that have Internet access. This means scores can be entered simultaneously
at multiple venues. But because you are all using the same database, everybody
is working from the same page, eliminating duplication, confusion, and
errors.
Beginning today and continuing with the next newlsetter, we'll take a
look at league experiences with Tournament Scheduling.

MGHL
22nd Annual Tournament
Dec 27
- 29 2002/155 Teams
The Mississauga Girls Hockey League's 22nd Annual Tournament
is the highlight of the league's season. With over 150 teams invited from
across Canada and the United States and with members of Canada's gold
medal Women's Olympic Hockey team present, the tournament is a showcase
for the MGHL's commitment to girls amateur hockey
To help
ensure the success of the tournament, BladeNET met with the MGHL to determine
their requirements and offer any assistance. Since the tournament was
taking place at three venues, BladeNET helped configure access at each
location and provided training to the volunteers.
Configuring such a large tournament is normally a challenge, but BladeNET's
Tournament Scheduling effortlessly integrated the 155 teams invited to
the MGHL tournament with a complex series of rules to determine and update
standings throughout the tournament.
During the tournament, MGHL volunteers updated scores and standings at
each venue using BladeNET's Tournament Scheduling over the Internet. Results
were immediately available to coachs, players and families. " We've
had no problems with standings" said Todd Zimmer, MGHL Tournament
Director.
For the coachs, teams and families, Tournament Scheduling introduced a
new level of communication to amateur hockey tournaments. Reliable and
accurate game times, scores and standings were immediately available.
"It's wonderful to be at home or anywhere and not wonder if you are
playing" observed Todd Zimmer.
